MELODY 7

The period Melody spent with Toke was a remarkable one, She expressed her excitement when her dad, Sunkanmi, came to take her home. Melody wished she could stay longer but she knew that her dad will not consent to that, one week was enough, Sunkanmi told her so

“If you like I could you to go see Grandma” He told her after he noticed she wasn’t too happy that she's going back home, Melody agreed, she realized it's been a long time she saw her paternal grandmother, after all, it was better than having to live with her father’s girlfriend Rita.

Since Melody was away for another couple of days, Sunkanmi felt it was good to go chill with his friends at the usual lounge, they do go to. While sitting and some drinks he noticed the presence of Toke, she entered the lounge with her boyfriend, Uche, he smiled and also watched her closely as she interacted with Uche until he stood and left the lounge to receive a call. Sunkanmi then excused himself from the company of his friends to go meet her where she sat

 “Hi……Toke” He spoke to her as she looked up at him

“Hey, Melinda’s dad, what are you doing here?” She smiled graciously as she spoke to him

“Well I came to hang out with my friends, what about you?”

“Oh I came with urgggh…….”

“Boyfriend, I guess, I saw you both together before he stepped out”

“You did?”

“Yeah, where is he”

“He got a call, I’ll be back soon, so how’s Melinda”

“She’s good, she’s over at my mom’s place”

“Okay, that’s great, she’s such an amazing girl, I must say, you know, it’s shocking how a young girl of her age with her condition can be so smart like that, she’s really special” Sunkanmi wondered why she adores his daughter that much, so he asked

“Why do you love her so much, I’ve never seen a woman that loves her the way you do”

“Well, lets just I love kids generally and Melody, is really special one” She told him, their conversation went further until Uche walked in, he looked so upset, he completely ignored Sunkanmi and faced Toke instead, in annoyance he said

“We need to leave here” he grabbed her bag and handed it over to her

“Wait, what? but we just got here, we can’t just leave”

“Don’t question me, we are leaving now and that’s it” He held her hands and began to pull her up

“Hey, take it easy, you are going to hurt her” Sunkanmi interrupted

“And who the hell are you to get involved?”

“I’m Sunkanmi and we’ve met before, I guess you don’t remember” He offered a handshake which Uche rejected

“I don’t care who you are, just get out of my business, get on your feet Toke or I will have to drag you out myself” She refused so he held her tightly and dragged her out, Sunkanmi tried helping out but he didn’t want to do something to make Uche angrier than he already was so he followed them as they walked out of the lounge. When they got outside, Toke was able to get loose of his grip by the time they got close to his car

“Stop this Uche, for God's sake, what has come over you?” Toke asked, her hands really hurt

“You want to know what has come over me, okay I will tell you, I left you to go answer an important call only for me to come back to find you flirting with another man” Uche spoke with utmost annoyance

“Are you insane, I wasn’t flirting with him, he is even someone you know”

“I don’t care, I saw the way you just smiling like you were already sleeping with him”

“I won’t have you talk to me like that, what is wrong with you?”

“Listen to me Toke, it is either you get into the car or you’d have to find your way to wherever you want to go to”

“You won’t dare leave me out here”

“Watch me” He got into the car and drove away to the dismay of Toke, she was so surprised he could do a thing like that, how could he leave her alone there knowing fully well that they came together, she stood there amazed at what just happened

“Trouble in paradise” Sunkanmi spoke to get her attention “Wow, is he always like that?”

“I don’t understand myself, I’ve never seen him like that” She uttered

“Well, I guess you guys will get settle your differences later” He said and Toke signed

“I don’t know, now I have to get an Uber to take me home”

“No no no no, I can take you home”

“Don’t bother, I’m not going to spoil the night for you”

“It’s not an issue at all Toke, please let me take you home, I’d really love to” she looked at him, rejecting his offer was not a fair choice to make

“Alright then, Thanks” she said to him

Sunkanmi quickly went in to inform his friends that he’d be leaving and then went out to take Toke home.

MELODY 6

“Ouch!” Toke exclaimed while she was about to get up from the lying on Uche’s laps, they were seeing a movie together in Toke’s house, she paused for a bit as she placed her hands on her chest

“Are you okay?” Uche asked her

“I don’t know, I felt a sudden pain on my chest, Ouchhh” the pain came again, Uche helped her to  lay back on the couch

“Just relaxed okay” he said to her “do you know the reason you feeling pains” he asked her again

“I don’t know, although I've been feeling the pains for a while now, I have no idea whats causing it” Toke answered him

“It’s could be as a result of stress, you know I do tell you that you work too much, I think you need to take some time off work”

“Uche you know I love to work”

“Your health is more important, taking some days off will do you a lot of good”

“I agree, moreover, I’ll be having someone to spend some days with me, so I won’t be bored while staying at home”

“That’s fine” There was a knock on the door “I’ll get it” Uche volunteered to go check who was at the door, it happened to be Melody and her Dad

“Hi, I’m Sunkanmi, I’m here to…..” Sunkanmi said while offering Uche a handshake but Uche interrupted him

“I know who you are and she must be Melody, we’ve been expecting you, come in” He showed them the way in, meanwhile Toke was already feeling better so she stood up to go meet them at the doorway, when Melody saw her, she ran to her arms, anyone could tell how much happy Melody was to see her

“Hey” she said to Sunkanmi after Melody freed her from her grip

“Hi, well as you can see she so glad to see you”

“Yeah, I am too” Toke replied him

“So I’d just leave you both, so you can have all the time to yourselves” Sunkanmi hugged Melody once more and left the house afterward.

Toke accompanied Melody to the room she was meant to stay, it was the same room she stayed the last time, Uche had already informed Toke that he was leaving the house to the urgent meeting he needed to attend, Toke wasn’t too pleased, she wished he could stay for a little while so Melody could get familiar with him, but he insisted on leaving despite how seriously Toke asked him to stay. Nevertheless, the rest of the day was fabulous for both Toke and Melody.

MELODY 5

As time went by, Toke and Uche got along really well, they had more dates together and the relationship seemed to be getting deeper, he might not totally be the kind of man she wanted but everything seemed to be going on smoothly as she was convinced he sincerely was in love with her.

Sunkanmi was making breakfast when Rita walked in, she was putting on one of his Tshirt, she made an attempt to take out of the plantain he was frying but Sunkanmi stopped her
“Don’t touch it” he said to her
“why? I’m so famished” She replied him
“Then you should have woken up earlier to prepare something for yourself”
“Come on now, you know I don’t like getting out of bed early”
“That’s not the way to behave, you know”
“Yeah yeah whatever” her nonchalant attitude made him nod
“Can you at least get Melody out for bed?”
“Really, are you really asking me to do that? You know that little brat of yours won’t even let me into her room”
“I’ve told you to stop referring to her as a brat”
“Well that’s what she is, please go get her yourself, I can't stand her been rude to me this morning” she said as she served herself a cup of juice and walked out of the kitchen.
Melody was still on the bed when Sunkanmi came knocking on the door, she got up slowly and went to open the door for him to come into the room.
“You are still sleeping huh?” He asked her, she ignored him and went over to her bed to continue lying down “Not even a good morning kiss from you” he sat close to her on the bed “What is wrong with you this morning, okay I made your favorite breakfast of spaghetti and plantain, I made it just how you love it” He said but Melody looked so disinterested “What's wrong little girl, you know I don’t like it when you are like this, if this is about Rita been around, I’ve told you she’d be leaving soon, okay very soon she will go” he tried to hold but she didn’t allow him “You don’t want to hug daddy because of her, I’m talking to you Melody” He scornfully said the last words to her and she nodded negatively, she then moved to where her pen and book was and wrote I WANT TO SEE MY FRIEND MISS TOKE 

Sunkanmi read it and asked “Who is Miss Toke?” Melinda wrote again THE LADY THAT FOUND ME “Oh, Okay, is that what you want?” he asked her and she nodded positively “Alright, I think I still have her contact written somewhere, I’d let her know you want to see her but first I need you to come to eat first” Melody grumbled as she hurriedly showed him a mobile number written in a piece of paper, she also took her book and wroke CALL HER NOW “Not now Melody, I’m not with my phone” Melody then rushed out of the room to go get the phone, she came back before he knew it and handed the phone over to him “Melody, you always get me to do whatever you want me to do, fine, I’ll call her, let’s just hope she won’t mind”.

“Hello” Toke uttered over the phone
“Hello, Good morning, please am I speaking with Toke?”
“Yeah, who’s this please?”
Sunkanmi told her who he was and the reason he was calling her, Toke sounded elated “Wow, that’s a great idea, I’ve been looking forward to seeing Melody again when is she coming?” She asked
“Well, it seems she wouldn’t mind coming tomorrow”
“Fantastic, I’ll be glad to have her around tomorrow”
Melody was so happy her wish to see Toke will be realized, She hugged her dad after the conversation on the phone with Toke ended “So are you going to take your breakfast now?” He asked her and she nodded positively, then they both left the room to the dining table to have the sumptuous meal Sunkanmi prepared.
