ENTANGLEMENT

 

Sometimes when a married man elopes with another lady, none of them should be blamed for the adulterous act, we meet people on a daily basis and we feel differently towards every person. Entanglement is an experience that tells about finding happiness outside marriage, how it affects you and yours and the repercussion that comes with it.

THE BEGINNING

 

Khalid and his wife Muna were having a simple meal of yam and a fried egg. It was in the mid-afternoon, they were both quiet while having their lunch, just then a call came in via Khalid's phone.

 "Hakeem is calling" He told Muna

"Hello Hakeem" He said after he picked the call and his mood changed when he noticed that Hakeem was in serious distress "What's  going on? Hey calm down, will you? calm down and tell me what the matter is, yes what did you say happened to Ella? What! in the hospital, What's wrong with her? oh.......okay, fine we will be on our way, just calm down" The call dropped then he looked at Muna who was already panicking when she heard Ella was in some kind of trouble "Babe just calm down okay" he told her.

"What did he say happened to Ella?" Muna asked in a terrifying voice

"He didn't mention what happened to her, he only said they were at the hospital" 

"What hospital?" 

"He said he'd send the address to us now" immediately his phone beeped as a sign of a received message "He has sent it already, not far from here, Let's go" Khalid said after he read through the message.

Muna hurriedly went to change into something suitable to be worn outside, while Khalid rushed to his car and sat there waiting for Muna, not long she came out to meet him and they drove off to the hospital they were directed to.

As they drove to the hospital, Khalid tried effortlessly to make Muna relaxed but still, Muna remained terrified. Ella was her daughter and she was not going to be relaxed until she knows that her daughter would be okay.

The journey to the hospital was less than an hour thirty minutes, Muna rushed in followed by Khalid, they saw Hakeem seated at a corner.

"What happened to Ella?" Muna held Hakeem as she asked him. Hakeem was confused, he didn't know what response to give, he looked stressed and like someone who must have been through a lot

"Hakeem, tell us what happened to Ella" Khalid spoke, he was calmer

"Talk now, you this boy, talk now" Muna was harsh but still Hakeem remained quiet until a female doctor walked up to them.

"Excuse me, are these her parent?" The doctor directed the question to Hakeem and he gave a positive nod "oh, that's great...please come with me"

Khalid held Muna and they both accompanied the doctor to her office, Hakeem preferred to remain there.

Doctor Martha told them to take a seat  when they entered the office, she began talking after she sat down herself

"So, madam....sir, apparently your daughter tried having an abortion but..........."

"What!" Muna exclaimed "That's not possible, what the hell is she talking about?" She faced Khalid

"Doctor, there must be some kind of mix up somewhere, our daughter can't have an abortion, besides she was never pregnant to have one" Khalid spoke

"This simply means that you both didn't know that she was pregnant, your daughter was two months pregnant, tried having an abortion but......hold on, but fortunately the abortion was unsuccessful"

"Are you sure of what you are saying?" asked Khalid 

"Sir, I am sure, that boy you met brought her here when she went into come during the course of the abortion, luckily he brought her here on time because she was already bleeding seriously, we've been able to stabilize her, so she will be fine, the baby as well will be fine"

Muna was already crying "How can she be pregnant? how can she be?.......oh God" Khalid consoled her on his shoulders

"I think that boy is responsible" the doctor said

"Which boy?" asked Khalid

"The boy that brought here, you were with him a while ago"

"No, he can't be the one, they are siblings" 

"Oh, I said so because they came here together"

"He's not the one, when can we see her?"

"I can't say for now, like I said before, she's been stabilized so probably tomorrow you should be able to see her"

"Okay doctor, thank you" Khalid said as he was still holding Muna

They left the doctor's office back to where they were with Hakeem  but Hakeem was no where to be found, they asked the patient that was seated there and the patient told them that the boy they were looking for just stepped out. Khalid decided to put a call through to to him, at the third dial the call was picked.

"Where are you Hakeem? why did you leave?"

"I'm sorry dad, we didn't mean to do it"

"What are you talking about?" 

"I'm sorry dad"

"Stop all this and tell me where you are silly, we are about to leave the hospital"

"I can't tell you where I am daddy, I'm sorry and I'm not coming home again"

"Are you sure you are okay, Hakeem"

"I'm sorry dad, please tell mom I'm sorry too" Hakeem hung the call up

"Hello, hello......." Khalid said repeatedly "What is wrong with this boy" He dialed his number again but was switched off

"What's happening?" Muna asked 

"It's Hakeem, he switched off his phone" 

"why?"

"I don't know, he kept saying he's sorry"

"Sorry for what?"

"I'm confused hunny"

They looked at each other, this must mean one thing, just one thing,  the moment Muna figured it out, she began crying and rolling on the floor, screaming "oh no, oh.....no" Khalid understood, it was unbelievable, it was impossible, how could it be? how did it happen? This is such a tragedy.
